FLORENCE TRAVEL DIARY – DAY 3

Ciao everybody,
this morning I woke up early and had a beautiful walk before breakfast.

I walked to Piazza della Repubblica, Piazza del Duomo and Piazza della Signoria.

7am is a good time to take beautiful photos with no people in the shot.

After breakfast we visited Pitti Palace. This is a Renaissance palace close to Ponte Vecchio. The famous bridge over the river Arno has many shops built along it. Pitti Palace was built for the Pitti Family in 1457. In 1549 the Medicis bought the palace and it became the primary residence of the ducal family.

Today the palace houses some museums. There you have the opportunity to choose between two tickets. We chose the second one. This ticket includes Bobolin Garden, Bardini Garden, Costume Gallery, Silverworks Museum and Porcelain Museum. Some museums are located inside the Pitti Palace so you are able to see many traditional rooms. All the rooms are so pretty and totally worth to visit. My favourite part was Costume Gallery. There you see the stunning rooms and a great collection of historical clothes and accessories. Afterwards we walked through the Boboli Gardens, the design of the garden is great.

In the afternoon I walked around the hills on the south side of the river.

There I discovered Piazzale Michelangelo. This is a square with an amazing view over the city.

Suddenly the weather changed, it was so windy and started to rain. So we had coffee at Piazza della Repubblica. This square is so close to our hotel so we decided to have dinner there as well.
