FLORENCE TRAVEL DIARY – DAY 4

Ciao everybody,
this morning we visited Cathedral of Saint Mary of the Flower. The Renaissance dome is located in Piazza del Duomo. The cathedral opens at 10am and I recommend you to come around 20min early because there was a long queue. Afterwards we walked to the nearby market. I visited this market on my first day. There is the Mercato Centrale and Mercato di San Lorenzo. The first one offers a huge variety of food on two floors inside. The second one is outside and there are several stands with bags and accessories. This market is perfect for shopping and keep in mind that it is possible to negotiate prices. Then we had delicious ice cream at Venchi.

Next we took a bus tour through the city. There are a lot of small streets so the public transport has special small busses for these routes. A ticket costs between 1,20-2€ and lasts for 90min. For dinner we visited Mangia Pizza again. They have so delicious pizza for 7-10€. One of my favourite things are sunsets so I decided to walk to Piazzale Michelangelo again.

I have been there yesterday and the view over the city is stunning. It is the perfect place to see a sunset.

Tonight it was one of the most beautiful sunsets I have ever seen.

Afterwards I walked through the city by night.

All the lights were on and there were many great musicians on the street.

This was such a fabulous last evening in Florence. Tomorrow we are already leaving for Munich.

MILAN TRAVEL DIARY – DAY 2

Ciao everybody,
today was a beautiful sunny day in Milan. In the morning we walked along Via Brera. There are some nice shops and restaurants. Afterwards we walked to the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II and cathedral.

In this area are many shops so we visited some. Yesterday we had delicious panzerotti at Luini so we went to the bakery again. In the afternoon we visited the dome but we had to wait for over one hour because of the long queue. The dome is so beautiful and huge.

Especially the windows inside are so pretty. With the ticket for 3€ you can visit the cathedral, Duomo Museum and San Gottardo in Corte Church. So our next stop was the museum. Following was the S. Gottardo chrch.

This church is the most beautiful one I have ever seen. The colours are so pretty.

If you visit the dome in Milan I totally recommend to you to visit this church as well. Afterwards we walked around in the neighborhod. Back in the apartment we cooked dinner and watched a movie.

MILAN TRAVEL DIARY – DAY 1

Ciao everybody,
yesterday we took the train from Paris to Milan. The ride was over 7 hours long so we just went to the apartment and to a supermarket. We have never been in Milan before but we got great tips from a friend of mine. Today we walked to the city center. First of all we walked through the famous Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II.

It is even more beautiful in real life. There are many luxury shops and some restaurants.

Then we arrived at the Duomo di Milano. The dome is so beautiful and huge.

We started to take photos but unfortunately it started to rain. Then we wanted to visit the dome however it was closed because tomorrow the pope comes to Milan. So we visited the rooftop terrace of La Rinascente.

The restaurants on the 7th floor of the department store are next to the dome, consequently the view is great.

Afterwards we visited the nearby fast food bakery Luini. The line in front of the bakery was so long but it is totally worth it to wait. Famous are the salty and sweet panzerotti. I chose the baked panzerotti with mozzarella and tomatoes and the sweet one with chocolate and strawberries. They are so delicious however I preferred the salted one. In the afternoon we went shopping along Via Torino and Corso di Porta Ticinese. There we found some beautiful unique pieces. We had a nice evening in the apartment and cooked pasta with pesto.

LONDON TRAVEL DIARY – DAY 1

Hey everybody,

I hope you are all doing well. Until the end of march I try to post a blogpost everyday. Probably most of them are travelling posts because I am going to visit some cities in my spring break. Today I flew with my family to London Heathrow. London is my favourite city in the world and I love to visit it! Unfortunately there was an accident so that we weren’t able to take the tube to the city centre. Normally it is my favourite way to go to the city of London because it is fast and cheap. If you have to choose an airport keep in mind that the tube (Piccadilly line) from Heathrow to London is so much more affordable than to take the Gatwick express (from Gatwick airport), Stansted (from London Stansted airport) or Heathrow express. Of course London is pretty expensive when it comes to hotels but you can find great offers. This time we stayed at a hotel very close to Oxford Circus for the third time. After checking in we walked to China Town. When I am travelling I love to walk as much as possible. On the one hand you can discover a lot and on the other hand it is great for the body.

There are many restaurants and supermarkets in China Town. We chose one with an all you can eat offer (around £10).

Afterwards we visited Carnaby Street. There are a lot of shops and restaurants. Moreover it is a great place to take photos because of the pretty houses.

The weather changed a lot so when it started to rain I decided to go shopping. I visited some shops along Carnaby Street and some on Oxford Street.

In the evening I planed my next day.

LONDON IN 3 DAYS

Hello everybody,

this month I was in London for 12 days. My grandmother was never in London and she really wanted to visit the city. So we decided that she flies with me to London and stays there for 3 days. In this 3 days I wanted to show her as much as possible from my favourite city. Probably you think it isn’t possible to discover London in 3 days because it is a huge city but it is. When you have never been in London before and you just have a few days you can take this ‘plan’ as an example.

xx Patricia

FIRST DAY

London is a very diverse city. There is the ‘classic’ London (classic buildings, museums), the modern London (skyscrapers), multicultural London (Chinatown) etc.

So I thought the best way is to start with the classic London. In the morning we visited the National Gallery and the Trafalgar Square. In London there are several museums but I thought the most important art museum is the National Gallery because there are classics like Turners and Monets. Afterwards we walked to the Leicester Square and enjoyed the atmosphere. For lunch we decided to visit Chinatown. There are great all you can eat offers and in the supermarkets you can find Chinese sweets. I was so happy when I found out that they have totally different Oreo flavours. In London there are other beauty brands so we went shopping at Superdrug. In the afternoon we drove to Westminster Abbey and visited a church service (Evensong). The museums are free in London and when you want to visit a church you have to pay however when you visit a church service it is free. Another advantage of a church service is that you can hear the great choir. Next to the church is the Houses of Parliament with the Elisabeth tower (Big Ben). At the Westminster Bridge is a big boat stop. We booked a boat tour from the Westminster Bridge to the Tower. The boat tour is faster than a river walk so you can save some time. Next to the river are a lot of landmarks like the London Eye, St. Paul’s Cathedral, Tate Modern, Globe Theatre… When we stopped there we had a look at the Tower Bridge and the Tower.

SECOND DAY

This morning we walked to the British Museum. The museum is huge and there are a lot of different exhibitions so I recommend to check them out before. We wanted to see the Ancient Egypt one however it was so crowded so that we left the museum early. I recommend to you to be at the museum when it opens. After lunch we drove to Oxford Street and went shopping. We just went to shops which we don’t have in Munich. So we went to Primark, Boots and Superdrug (again). My favourite department stores are Harrods and Selfridges. Selfridges is closer because it is located on Oxford Street. The food supermarkets are different to the German ones so we visited Makes&Spencer (one is next to selfridges so very close). In the evening we visited Piccadilly Circus. Especially when it is dark it is great to see the billboards.

THIRD DAY

This Morning we drove to Camden Town. Camden Town is one of my favourite places in London. It is totally different to the London you normally think of (white big buildings, museums…). I think the best way is to drive to the tube station Camden Town and then walk the street along to the Camden Lock Market. On this way there are a lot of shops and markets. Finally we arrived at the Camden Lock Market. There are several multicultural food stands. It is so difficult to decide what to eat but I am sure you will make the right choice. When we wanted to take a bus to Oxford Street suddenly I saw a Donut & Cronut shop. I always wanted to try a Cronut and in Camden Town I got the chance to do that. On the Oxford street we went to Primark (again). Probably you wonder why we visited Primark again. The reason is that the things in Primark change every day. Afterwards we visited Covent Garden. Covent Garden is amazing to walk around grab something to eat (e.g. Ben`s cookies) and to shop a little bit.

SHOPPING OUTFIT PARIS

Hello everybody,

when I am travelling I love to go shopping. Besides food and beauty products I like to buy clothes because in other cities there are other shops. I prefere food, beauty products and clothes to typical souvenirs because they have a ‘function’. Especially in big cities like Paris the shops are crowded and when you finally manage to find some pieces the queue is extremly long. So it is very helpful to wear an outfit which makes it easy to try clothes on. When I go shopping I prefere to wear leggings, a T-shirt, comfortable shoes and a small bag. The advantage of a T-shirt is that you easily can try pullovers, cardigans, blazers, coats etc. in the store on. So for these pieces it isn´t neccessary to go to a dressing room however when you have to go because you want to try on a dress, pants etc. it doesn´t take long to change.

I hope these tips help you on your next shopping trip.

xx Patricia
